Mission

Fundamental Principles of DOE’s STI Responsibilities and Goals

In accordance with DOE Order 241.1C, Scientific & Technical Information (STI) Publications Services is committed to facilitating the global exchange of scientific and technical information while ensuring accountability and compliance with DOE’s statutory mandates for STI management. Our efforts include:

  • Utilizing digital publishing technologies to manage and distribute SLAC research
  • Developing online communication and collaboration tools
  • Producing professional art and designs for various visual media
  • Enhancing productivity through process development and systems integration
  • Providing accountability and maintaining a historical record of labs’ and offices’ R&D and technological activities through submission to OSTI
  • Enhancing the transparency of DOE research by maintaining robust STI programs
  • Ensuring that appropriate announcement and availability restrictions are applied by the originating organization in accordance with statutory, regulatory, Executive order, and other Departmental requirements
  • Saving research dollars by reducing duplication and enabling reuse of previous research, serving as building blocks for future work
  • Extending the reach and impact of DOE’s research across all labs, sites, offices, and awardees
